Originally by: Arbelia Amarsa See this is again a case where CCP devs "epic fail" to use common sense. The game mechanics are one thing, but letting one group of players grief one of your best game cash cows (ei EVE University, that draws in and keeps multitudes of new players) is just foolish. At some point CCP has to draw lines and protect new players whether they are in a corp or not. Privateers, many of them, are just losers in the game looking for easy "ganks" so they are ruining the game for others and CCP is losing money because of it. Privateer alliance has always been a lose lose thing for EVE, put a cap on them already.
Goonswarm I believe does far more for new players getting into 0.0 and PvP, yet you don't support them?
Privateers has been capped, this is why we choose Eve-Uni, they at least undock and fight now and then which is much more than many other alliances stuck in the train of thought that PvP only occurs in 0.0 where they can drop 3 motherships and a couple of titans on any tresspassers.
Originally by: Zealota With over half of Privateer Alliances members lacking respect and support for their leaders this strongly suggest to me that the Alliance decision makers within privateers need to resign and someone with more vision, honesty and diplomatic skill implemented immediately.
You do not understand the Privateer Alliance. Unlike most alliances, we're all only here because we're allied in one common goal, this is unconventional to say the least - most opt for joining noddy alliance #3976321 - take a look at how alliances often fall apart, Triumvirate is the most recent example - an alliance ripped apart by infighting born from differing goals and apparently a modicum of greed. Privateers is simple, as a pilot I don't need to respect anybody so long as I can remain at least civil, the choices are simply, you can either like it, lump it or leave - there is no board of directors, alliance council or anything that involves pontificating clunks trying to exert their influence in alliance direction. We don't even have a diplomat as diplomacy is not a necessity. Likewise any of us are able to offer suggestions to those in charge and they can either agree or ignore it and that's the end of the matter. Saves a lot of clunking around to be honest.
As for Eve-University teaching new players how to fight, I disagree. They teach people to fight with a blob and to match each enemy ship with at least one dedicated EW ship plus the rest. Take a look at the general consensus of opinion concerning how combat is performed typically in 0.0 and maybe you will start to agree that taking Eve-University and their school of thought out of the equation could only be a good thing for Eve as a whole. That isn't to say that Privateers will do that, Eve-Uni is in no danger at all, you're claims that they are heading for disaster is melodramatic balloonary at it's best.
